A little preview of an animated sketch I’m tinkering with – really wanted to play with depth of field in the background which you can just about see from this snippet. More to come. Hopefully some decent sounds too on this piece for once…

This is a prop for a photo shoot I art directed last week – so much fun. I made this over a weekend from a wire and aluminium foil core clad in air-drying fimo clay. It was nice to be able to create and paint something three-dimensional again, which is something I haven’t done since my modelmaking days at Aardman.
A squirrel-in-a-tux; why not?

Here’s a little process pic for this chappy:

Here’s a little test gif for a little project I’ve started with supertalent, Ben Newman:

More to follow.
Just a little preview of something I’m working on…

A few weeks back I went to see a talk given by Studio AKA’s Philip Hunt. Needless to say, it was effing inspiring. Here’s a trailer for a film by one of Studio AKA’s directors, Grant Orchard – lovely stuff.

There’s my bicycle guy at the bottom left…

This is one of those doodles that just carried on into something a little more finished. Gonna be doing a few more human characters, I think.

I thought it was high time I posted a trailer of Aardman Animation’s latest movie, Pirates!. I spent about a year on this working in the model-making department as a puppet painter, and (call me biased) it looks beautiful! Last week was the crew wrap party (drunk times…) – it was amazing to see all the many hands that went on deck for this HUGE project. It’s out in March 2012 and will have taken 5 years to make! Look out for Peg Leg Hastings, whose paintjob fills me with pride…
Enjoy!
