This is one of those doodles that just carried on into something a little more finished. Gonna be doing a few more human characters, I think.

I thought it was high time I posted a trailer of Aardman Animation’s latest movie, Pirates!. I spent about a year on this working in the model-making department as a puppet painter, and (call me biased) it looks beautiful! Last week was the crew wrap party (drunk times…) – it was amazing to see all the many hands that went on deck for this HUGE project. It’s out in March 2012 and will have taken 5 years to make! Look out for Peg Leg Hastings, whose paintjob fills me with pride…
Enjoy!
Here’s an image of the Missing Link Exhibition going up at La Gaîté Lyrique as part of the Pictoplasma Paris Conference. Gutted that I won’t get to see this in the flesh.
Can you spot my Yeti?

I went to a Pictoplasma: Characters in Motion conference a few years ago and saw a talk given by David O’Reilly and have really enjoyed watching his stuff since. This film, all set in O’Reilly’s strange polygonal world, is about a boy learning to play the piano. It is dark, humorous and full of bastardised references to modern daily life. There are many characters, whose ostensibly separate story-lines weave in and out of each other, to create a very circular tale. Watch.

I like Tintin. I like this.

A while back, I contributed a little Yeti illustration to the Missing Link Project, put on by the folks at Pictoplasma. They had a little installation at the Volksbuhne in Berlin and now they’re taking it to the very first Pictoplasma Paris at La Gaîté Lyrique in December.

If you squint your eyes, you can just about see my Yeti on the door (top right). It looks like this:

It’s also featured on the Missing Link homepage! Thanks Pictoplasma!
